We’ve invested in more than 25 ventures in the communications and media world – as stakeholders, partners or owners. We have shown that we can rapidly integrate acquired companies into our business and improve their performance. Acquisition has complemented our network and expertise to enable more people to benefit from all that we offer. It has also boosted our purchasing power to create the extra margin needed to offer customers even greater value for money.
Our most significant acquisition so far has been the residential business of Cable & Wireless Communications. This landmark deal was concluded with the help of France Telecom, who paid £3.5 billion for a 25% stake in ntl. It made us the largest cable company in the UK, and the second largest consumer telephone company.
